Dear tea friends,
Hope you are settling nicely into deep autumn! As parts of the natural world have begun to slow down, our little corner has been ramping up in activity to, as our motto says, bring people together to experience beauty in a cup. Here are some of the events we’ve been working hard on (strap in, this one’s a bit of a read)!
Saturday 10/28 Tea service volunteers meeting
Broke Cup Teahouse is starting a new project that has been a long time coming, and is near and dear to my own heart. This winter, we are very excited to be collaborating with the Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House to provide a hot tea service for the patrons of their Food Pantry! It can get cold around here in the winter, so I wanted to find a way to help keep people warm as they hang out and wait in line outside for their turn. This particular food pantry also serves many Chinese seniors (about 40% of their constituency) whom I wanted to show some love. The response I have gotten from folks on Instagram who want to help out and spread the word to their family, friends, and professional networks has been INCREDIBLE. We are all meeting each other for the first time this Saturday, to coordinate the tea service for November and December. We are just about at capacity for this first round, but if you are interested in getting involved now or later, please reach out: hello@brokencupteahouse.com. Very grateful to the Cambridge Community Foundation grant that is making this possible!
Sunday 10/29 2-5 pm FREE Community Tea Share @ Rite Tea & Espresso Bar
Calling all tea lovers! Ren of Rite and I are co-hosting a free and open Community Tea Share to bring all us tea people out of the woodwork to meet each other. Ren and I would love for YOU to join us in brewing and sharing YOUR teas - more info here. Tea and brewing of any style are welcome!
Saturday 11/4 Pop-up @ THE Mushroom Shop
Broken Cup Teahouse is coming to THE Mushroom Shop in Somerville! Swing by to try some of our teas and take them home, and/or find them on the shelf at the shop later!
Sunday 11/5 and 11/12 Teahouse pop-up @ Rite Tea & Espresso Bar
If you liked our teahouse pop-up at Cicada in October of last year, come out again and tell your friends! We’ll have a full schedule of walk-in hours (with gongfucha, bottomless cups of tea, cold brews by the glass, and snacks a la carte) as well as tea tastings by reservation.
Our tastings this time around include:
What Makes A Tea A Tea - going beyond green, black, and herbal…!
Intro To Oolong Teas - what is oolong anyway and what makes it such a diverse genre?
Vintage Oolong Teas - old oolong teas from our treasured collection, aged 20-50 years. They speak for themselves.
… and 2 more classes TBD :) Keep an eye out in the next newsletter and/or our Instagram!
Full pop-up schedule available here!
Online shop updates
A little sale on the remainder of our 2022 oolongs: Red Oolong, Winter Alishan, Winter Lishan, and Winter LFX. Help us make a little room for new teas!
Last call on the Winter Signature Series ‘95-’22!
Last call on our Old Oolongs set with the 1960s oolong! When this set sells out we will replace it, though very unlikely with tea that old again… indeed, this is part of the beauty of tea.
*NEW* Teatime postcards!
And coming (back) soon… a old crowd-favorite :)
If you’ve got your eye on something, now’s the time to go for it, as we anticipate selling out of some of our offerings over the next two months…!
Corporate Holiday Gifts
With the holidays just around the corner, we would love to work with you to put together a thoughtful gift of tea (and tea snacks or accessories?) for your team or your clients. Please get in touch with us: hello@brokencupteahouse.com.
If you’ve made it this far, congratulations and thanks for reading! And as always, thank you for your support.
